The Golan Heights Winery produces premium varietals, proprietary blends and traditional method sparkling wines, marketed under the labels "Yarden", "Gamla" and "Golan".
The winery was founded in 1983 and is located in the small town of Katzrin, high up on the Golan Heights. By combining state-of-the-art technology with traditional vinification techniques, the company has succeeded in producing award-winning wines, firmly placing Israel on the international wine map.
The Wines
Golan Heights Winery, Yarden, Katzrin, 2007
The flagship wine of the winery. Produced only in exceptional vintages. Varieties ages individually in new French oak barrels for 18 months. The final blend is then put back into barrels for an additional 6 months aging. Layers of ripe cherry, blackberry, plum and cassis, with rich oak, vanilla, spice and chocolate notes. Exceptional depth and complexity, suitable for long-term bottle aging.

Golan Heights Winery, Yarden, Katzrin Chardonnay, 2006
The Yarden Katzrin Chardonnay shows off bright lemon, ripe pear and green apple characters along with hints of tropical fruit, mineral and caramelized nuts. This aromatic wine is rich and full-bodied.

Golan Heights Winery, Yarden, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2008
This wine is made mostly form Cabernet Sauvignon grapes coming mostly from Central Golan and Upper Galilee. Aged for 18 months primarily in small French oak barrels. Intense ripe blackberry, cherry, cassis and plum notes with toasty oak, vanilla and a nuance spice and tar. Full-bodied and concentrated with a long complex finish.

This Merlot shows off a complex array of characters including blackberry and plum fruit, orange zest and fresh herbs AND hints of cocoa, nutmeg, oak and violets. This is a full bodied example of Merlot.

Golan Heights Winery, Yarden, Merlot, Odem Organic Vineyard, 2006
An organic single vineyrad wine from the Odem Vineyard, which was farmed organically since 1998. The 2006 Yarden Merlot Odem Organic Vineyard is an aromatic wine featuring notes of ripe cherries and berries, layered with hints of orange zest, fresh herbs and earth. Dark purple in color, this is an intensely flavored Merlot. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.

The 2004 Yarden Syrah exhibits notes of ripe blackberry, fresh cherry and rich jam layered with characters of earth, spice and smoked meat. The wine is full-bodied yet elegant, and displays a long and satisfying finish.

An organic single vineyard wine from the Odem Vineyard, which was farmed organically since 1998. This Chardonnay was fermented in French oak barrels and ages sur lies for seven months. A potpourri of aromas and flavors; blossoms, citrus, pear and tropical fruit, together with vanilla, wood and mineral notes.

The 2010 Yarden Gewurztraminer presents a lively mix of lychee, tangerine, spice and floral notes. Just off dry and nicely aromatic, this medium-bodied wine displays great varietal character. Yarden Gewurztraminer works wonderfully either as an aperitif or with a nice meal.

Golan Heights Winery, Yarden, Heights Wine, 2008
This desert wine is produced from Gewurztraminer grapes grown in the cool northern Golan Heights. Entire clusters are hand picked and brought to the winery where they are cooled to -12°C for more than a month. The whole frozen clusters are then gently pressed, slowly yielding very rich and concentrated juice. This then slowly ferments over the next few months.
